the french band malicorne was part of the folk-rock movement of the 70's, and in my opinion the best of the lot
as opposed to some groups of the period who were rock musicians who played traditional music, malicorne was a group of traditional musicians who added rock influences, through their own unique filter
fairly obscure outside of europe, those in the know seek out their albums as they are outstanding
le bestiaire is my personal favorite
featuring stunning vocal arrangements [check out "la mule"] and a wide range of archiac instruments from hurdy-gurdies to crumhornes this album has a great medieval feel
yes, every thing is in french but don't let that stop you
i am glad to see that amazon is picking up some of their catalogue as this group made some amazing music and deserves to be heard!
